Books and Writing in Victoria

Last night my friend Jackie Kerin and I attended the opening of the Independent Type: Books and Writing in Victoria exhibition at Altona Meadows library. The exhibition celebrates the development of writing in Victoria from markings on possum-skin cloaks through to contemporary offerings. The exhibition, initially mounted at the State Library is now making its way around Victoria via selected public libraries.

Local authors were asked to provide material to supplement the touring exhibition and now features work from Andy Griffiths, Jackie Kerin and me.

Wow! Your very own display cabinet… travelling around the state! That's fantastic, Claire. I just wish it was going national so I could go and see it!

Oops, Trudie. Perhaps I worded it poorly. Yes, my very own cabinet, but only while the exhibition is in Hobsons Bay. When it moves on, local writers in other areas get to have the limelight.

Aaah – no you worded it just fine, it was just me jumping in without reading it properly! I'll put it down to the excitement of seeing you with your own display cabinet – which is still great even though it's not actually touring the state!
