Another highlight of the SCBWI Conference this year was receiving the 2011 Crystal Kite Award for There Was an Old Sailor. I’d known about the award, but since it’s to be presented at the National Conference, I had to wait until this year to receive it. That meant I was able to share the stage with Norman Jorgensen and James Foley author and illustrator of ‘The Last Viking’. Photos were taken.
